General Information

What is the Give 10 Initiative?

The Give 10 Initiative is a collaborative effort between Bohemian Foundation, Community Foundation of Northern Colorado and United Way of Larimer County to inspire increased giving. The goal of the Give 10 Initiative is to create a tradition of giving and to challenge future generations to pass it on. The Give 10 Initiative is about the exponential power of more people giving at a higher level with greater intention.

What is the Give 10 Grand Gala?
The Give 10 Grand Gala is the Give 10 Initiative’s celebration of donors who are dedicated to building stronger communities in Larimer County by donating $10,000 or more. The Give 10 Grand Gala is meant to minimize the costs incurred by many nonprofits that stretch beyond their means each year to recognize their donors. Individuals and private family foundations who annually donate $10,000 or more to eligible Larimer County 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations will receive an invitation to the Give 10 Grand Gala. Hosted by Pat Stryker, the Give 10 Grand Gala will be the signature philanthropy celebration event of the year.

What is the date of the Give 10 Grand Gala?
The nextGive 10 Grand Gala is scheduled to be held in February 2009 in Larimer County. Eligible donors will receive Save the Date details with the enrollment confirmation they receive via mail from the Community Foundation.

Is the Give 10 Grand Gala a one-time event?
No. Pat Stryker is dedicated to hosting the event annually.

Why is emphasis placed on giving at the $10,000 level?
This level of giving maximizes the community’s ability to resolve the needs facing Larimer County today. By offering the Give 10 Grand Gala as an incentive and honoring the donor, we hope to encourage donors to dig a little deeper when they give. The Give 10 Initiative wishes to raise awareness and expectations in our community to encourage philanthropic leadership at a higher level.

Are donors required to live in Larimer County to enroll in the Give 10 Initiative?
No. As long as donations are made to eligible Larimer County 501(c)3 nonprofits, it does not matter where the donor resides.

Are tickets to the Give 10 Grand Gala transferable?
No.

Will the Bohemian Foundation continue to host the United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society black-tie event?
The Give 10 Grand Gala will be the only philanthropy celebration hosted by the Pat Stryker on an annual basis. The Give 10 Grand Gala shares the spirit of the United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society annual event, yet it broadens the celebration of philanthropy to include all donors who give to Larimer County nonprofits at this extraordinary leadership level. Gala attendees may or may not be Alexis de Tocqueville Society members.

Why not give the cost associated with the Initiative directly to the nonprofit organizations?
The Give 10 Initiative and the Give 10 Grand Gala are additional strategies to enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit staff and dollars, and to encourage a culture of philanthropic leadership. The Bohemian Foundation already contributes a great deal directly to nonprofits through the Pharos Fund and other Foundation giving.
